Grand Knight's Report for September Activity

Thank you so much for taking time to look at our activity.  We are blessed at St Francis to have such a vibrant Church Community, and Council!  We have a lot of support from other ministries, our priests, deacons and special staff.  However, I like so many, fight the hectic pace of the daily grind.  We find ourselves wishing for more time to spend in spiritual pursuit.

I would like to post a quick message.

I might not have posted this on the Knights of Columbus Catholic Blog if it wasn't for Fr Mic's homily on Sunday.  He spoke about the fact that there could be saints outside the Catholic Church.  I feel that this message strikes home with me.  I have had to make an effort to get to know just a few of my neighbors.  It is a shame.  I have to focus daily to keep some spirituality in my life.  You have to define a quality life for yourself.  I think it would be different for everyone.  Then work hard to achieve it.

Another quote I heard over the weekend was, "Going to church makes you as Christian as going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger!"  The point there was recently brought up in our Sunday readings.  Show me your faith through your actions not your words!

The Knights of Columbus provides this avenue for men in the Catholic faith.  Please ask us for more information about joining the Knights of Columbus.

Here are a few of our activities in September.  Please keep in mind that these are special events.  Our members routinely and Usher at most masses, are Eucharistic Ministers, are Deacons, are Priests, are Altar Boys, serve the poor food, teach faith formation, and many other functions.

The first event was setting up the crosses of the Innocents for the "40 Days of Life."

PGK John Wilbur and John Angelo set up the crosses in the shape of the cross!  The picture is so good, with the church in the background, and our great flag behind it.  The only thing missing was a rainbow!  If only I had photoshop.  I would have put it in.

At almost the same time, Tony and Alex Cuesta set up for our soccer challenge.  We had a great showing.  We had girls in every age bracket and boys in 2 out of 4.  This event is designed to help create a sense of community and involvement for the whole family of the Knights and of the Church.  Anytime that we can share and get to know each other helps increase that sense of community.

Thank you to brother Rob Voor, Alex Cuesta, and the Youth Director Tony Cuesta for a successful event!

We capped the evening by working the bar at the Hispanic Dinner & Dance.  It was a wonderful event.  We had so many Knights attending the event that it was hard to man the bar!  The food was delicious and music really got us moving!  Thank you Brother Ron for your advice in the beer and wine purchases.  Thank you Rich for the expert set-up!  Thank you Carl for the long late shift!

Joe O'Connor and Chuck Mulhern were in the picture for the first shift.  I did not get back to the event in time to get Rich Brown and Joe Halle in the picture.    Carl is also here to help with the transition to Second shift.
Here is the energetic Second Shift.  We also got much appreciated help from Felipe Cuesta.

The Knights of Columbus were able to contribute significantly to the dontations of the evening.  We feel honored to have been included in this event!  Thank you Sonia Baroso for including us.

As fun as that was, it was mostly all in one day.  October holds an almost constant level of activity.  I will list out our Calendar here:
