Grand Knights Report of July Activity

Greetings!

My name is Tim O'Connor.  I have been elected the new Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at St Francis of Assisi.  I am very excited about the opportunity to spend more time in my week working on spiritual/Catholic projects, issues, and charities.  Life is very fast paced.  If we do not prioritize our spiritual life we may end up with a weak resume at the pearly gates.

That is how I view every gentleman's opportunity with the Knights.  First and foremost it takes you beyond the one hour a week that you current provide by attending mass.  It helps you be more charitable, and spiritual.  Second, for those of you that are already very charitible, and very spiritual, the Knights of Columbus offers you more.  Whatever you are doing currently through other organizations or on your own, can be amplified through the Knights of Columbus.

No one joins the Knights to come to meetings.  We want to do good works.  We want to help our church, and our community in real and tangible ways.

Here are our activities in July.  Sorry, for the delay in posting these pictures!  We have been busy.
Worthy Brother Rick Bishop organized a collection to help increase the number of Catholic Military Chaplains.  He was able to raise 5 times the suggested donation by our mother organization.  Thank you Rick for your hard work and dedication!  Thank you St Francis of Assisi for your generosity towards such a worthy effort!  Our Catholic military personnel will benefit from what the Knights of Columbus has collected.

Our Color Corp members were in attendance for a special Holiday 4th of July Mass by invitation from our Pastor Fr Mic. (the pictures are Silver Rose not 4th of July.  They are conveying the idea).  The Color Corp are 4th degree members of the Knights.  They represent the most knowledgeable, and dedicated of the Knights.  They added a special element to this Independence Day celebration!  Thank you Worthy Sir's for representing us so well!

I am in the middle.  I just received the jewel to be Grand Knight of our council.  John Wilbur(Left) is now our most current Past Grand Knight, and Felipe Cuesta(right) was the Grand Knight before John Wilbur.
Our officers being sworn into another year's service for the good of the order, our family, our church, and our community!

These railings were authorized by Father Mic our pastor for the good of all who need a steady hold going up steps.  Deacon Jerry was sent on the hunt for a good supplier.  The Knights of Columbus were able to help defray some of the cost, Bravo Fence sold the custom railing at a very good price.  The Knights were able to install the railing themselves. Our church was able to directly benefit from the efforts of the Knights of Columbus.

Many of our Knights were able to help Pat Racic, a widow of a Knight, secure her yard.  There were about 4 other Knights that assisted but could not stay for the picture.  Our founding principle for the Knights of Columbus is to protect and provide for our widows and orphans.   We were able to assist Mrs. Racic and we all benefitted from the event.

I hope that these pictures and words answer the most common question that we receive.  What do the Knights do?  What are you about?  If you would like to contact me, my email is linked to my name on the left hand side of the screen.  Any name in light gray will be linked to an email.  Feel free to contact us with questions, clarifications, or ideas.  We would enjoy the communication!

We will see you in church!
Vivat Jesus
Fraternally,
Tim O'Connor
